Producing energy using non-recyclable waste

Large deposits of waste, whether organic or not, can be transformed into an energy vector in the form of gas. Depending on local contexts, this can be converted into electricity, hydrogen or synthetic biomethane. Such projects are relatively new and the lack of feedback requires the support of experts.

Gasification is a thermochemical process that converts a solid fuel (coal, wood, straw, etc.) into a gas fuel, thanks to the injection of a small and controlled quantity of an oxidizing agent (e.g. O2, air, CO2, water vapour, etc.). This therefore differs from pyrolysis alone, which is a thermal process carried out in an inert atmosphere, and from combustion, which takes place in the presence of an abundant oxidizing agent.
